The 2016 Ford F-150 is already the toughest, smartest, and safest F-150 ever. Thanks to the closed-loop aluminum recycling system at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant, it's also the greenest. In yesterday's press release, Ford revealed that it is able to recycle up to 20 million pounds of scrap aluminum every month, enough to build more than 30,000 F-150 bodies.

Using recycled aluminum comes with the benefit of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 95 percent compared to primary aluminum production. It also uses less water and energy. As much as 40 percent of an aluminum coil is turned into scrap, which is then recycled into new metal for future trucks.

Aluminum is lighter than steel allowing for a reduction in an F-150's lifetime emissions. With an available 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine with standard Auto Start-Stop technology, the 4x2 configuration achieves best in class fuel economy ratings of 19 city, 26 highway, and 22 combined.
