Your oil has a lot of important jobs to do and just because you can't see it at work, doesn't mean it's any less important than say, your four tires. And if you keep your oil clean and in good shape, it can even save you up to a gallon of gas in just one year! And who doesn't like free gas? Checking your oil should be numero uno on your list when it comes to doing your car pre-check. It's always good to check before you drive off into the sunset, because you never know when it needs to be topped up or changed. But generally speaking, it should be changed every 6000 miles or so. Or when your oil looks like the creature from the Black Lagoon. Whichever comes first.
